Transcendental Meditation

Transcendental Meditation

While making this website on my at the end of each day of work I spent a lot of my evenings last year (2022) watching Twin peaks for the first time. Why am I saying this? First off because it’s a brilliant show and second due to it being one of my ADHD special interests, naturally while being immersed in Twin peaks I decided to do some digging on MR DAVID LYNCH himself and one of the firsts things I found was him talking about for most of his life he spent doing something called TC or TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION.

I wont go into to much detail, because as much as I love a good history lesson its up to you and your curious mind if you want the full interesting details of where it all comes from and what it’s all about, but in short Lynch says TC meditation has been documented in science and physics in being a way to connect with the Absolute or the

Unified field which is basically a place that has always existed, always will and where everything and anything that is a  “thing” is made and manifested in his words.. There’s lots of cool information online that you can dig up if you get super invested.

For now here is how you can start trying to do it and why you may want to start doing it. From a personal stand point growing up, meditation for me was given a bit of a bad name and all attempts in my teens seemed like failures due to my low attention span from having ADHD.

This all changed with TC due to the fact that for me there’s a set amount of time 20 mins x2 a day and through the use of the repeated mantra of your choice. I currently use Bellka just cos I like how it sounds.  Optionally I also like to wear headphones and listen to brown noise while I have a eyemask to cover my face.

The reason why I think more people should do TC not just from the words of Lynch's Vague but cute world piece agenda but also because of the current state of the world we live in today. We are given so many distractions all the time at every moment of the day especially if your on one of the many dreaded social media apps that’s always fighting for your time and attention while alongside having to think about and worrying about work, or projects , education if you're doing that , friends, family, lovers etc.

Without proper training in a range of areas, in which I hope these resources will help anyone interested to unlock, TC is a great place to start unloading all the information in our mind on the daily to declutter the brain to what we actually need in our life, to help the people we love and achieve the goals we deserves and want to obtain.

When reading the neuroscience book “the organized mind” see book recommendations sections. It sheds so much light on how our minds work and how we have a finite time to process each day while expanding on habits and how we can stay up together in our increasingly busy lives. From the images below you will find the benefits and how to start, including Lynch talking about TC or a video telling you how to start practicing TC if a real voice is more helpful.

Scroll to the bottom if you just want to know how to do it…

7 wonderful Perks of TC

  1. RELIEVES STRESS - TC has been found to be beneficial to relive stress and other psychological disorders.
  2. DETOX YOUR MIND -  Practicing this meditation one or two times a day can detox your mind from the everyday jumble of thoughts.
  3. RELAXES YOU - Inbetween your daily tasks, you might have gotten tired and fed up. Practicing Transcendental Meditation can help you to relax between those heavy workloads.
  4. INCREASES COGNITIVE SKILLS - This meditation has also been found to improve cognitive skills like sharpening the memory, increasing reflex, and improving the prefrontal cortex which is the central area for taking decisions.
  5. MAKES YOU DISCIPLINED - With improving every part of life, this form of mediation can also bring discipline and build a sense of order into your life.
  6. MAKES YOU MORE ENERGETIC - You will be less lazy and more energetic after going through a week of meditation practice.
  7. REDUCES BLOOD PRESSURE - practicing transcendental meditation will also aid with blood pressure-related problems.

How to do: Transcendental Meditation

  • Sit in comfortable chair. Keep your back and neck straight. Close your eyes.
  • Begin with 30 seconds of quiet. Ease into the mantra, a meaningless “vibration word”.
  • Repeat the mantra in your head at no particular rhythm.
  • Don’t think about you breathing.
  • Let the mantra draw your attention but allow thoughts to float by.
  • You may experience moments of “transcendence’ a pleasant feeling of alertness.
  • Meditate for 20 mins. Take 3 mantra -free minutes before opening your eyes.
  • Practice twice a day morning and before bed.

Ps its okay if you fall asleep doing it sometimes I’ve done it a bunch.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS WONDERFUL BOOKs - they will help you with ur mind, the world and people

Although no extreme order in Importance, as each book on this list serves its own purposes, I will say that must haves for the mind and soul would be the 6 pillars of self esteem, the Ethical slut (most recent addition) and the art of being and becoming. These books are perfect in re-programming all the nasty things the world may have put on you. Given you brainfood and tools to dig deeper into who you are and want to be.

Six pillars of self esteems

One of the most important books I’ve read and continue to read is the 6 pillars. I can’t stress enough how you need to own a copy. In the modern age the term “self esteem” gets thrown about constantly with little real understanding however Understanding self esteem is key to your success and survival. It has been a key component in helping me overcome trauma, depression and other problems in my life through further understanding of the human condition.!

It sets out to pick part self esteem and why it’s important by using psychology with clients and the authors  personal personal experience. No only does it trackle ur personal growth but it has a few interesting chapters on how to raise children and work in business environments.

Throughout the book, it gives you the task to write stems related to helping u grow ur self esteem in all areas, even having a 32 week stem course the back. I’m currently on week 15 and it’s been super helpful. Stems are just short lines of text that you expand upon quickly and help bring out your subconscious. Yet again if you want to live a wonderful life and help yourself and others then get this book.

The ethical slut

The perfect sexual guide book for breaking out of the somewhat repressive nuclear family if you so wish. I’m not damning mongomany you do you old soul lovers , I merely just think in the age of information the only person who should tell you how and what you with your private parts should be you and that also goes for who you love. This book puts language to many unspoken concepts often seen but not given words to in human culture. It has inclusive lingo for everyone and a nice bit of history and terms to help you understand. HERE AT THE WOMB WE ARE FULL SEX POSITIVE AND YOU SHOULD BE TOO - if you want to be a nice human perhaps. Another thing to note about this book as well is it straight up tells you not to listen to it  100%, merely to learn and make your own style of love while knowing helpful foundations to conduct in the greater universe so you can spread as much love to your friends and lovers. Its also not just about sex its about humans. Overall its an A from me.

The art of being and becoming

For people confused or turned off by my spirituality, this book is a great introduction into what it really can be. It mirrors lessons and teaching like the 6 pillars but in a more mystical point of view through Sufism. It’s main goal is to help you become a good human to follow love and express way to grow your character and personality. It tackles many cool and interesting teachings and schools of thought. My favorite being love being an Orchestra and everyone and everything in the world is an instrument which must learn to play its part through love, patience and commitment. Definitely something to look into although I don’t like how it always just uses the pronoun “man this and man that", rarely tackling it from the standpoint of a femme baddie. Although it all still applys no matter your gender or lack of. It also on my copy of the book right at the end accidentally (I think) called god she, which is a win from me.

The organized mind

As of january 04 2023 I’ve been reading this book and fuck me I can’t put it down. This book has so much cool and useful information about the mind and how our brains work, along side a bit of history and philosophy thrown in there. I admit it's a bit wordy to begin with but stick with it. The more you read it the more you're like, damn social media really kinda be like heroin for my mind, I should read a book or do something in the now before its too late.

On a brighter note, some cool facts i’ve learnt so far: Day dreaming is one of the best things you can do for yourself , multitasking is actually the worst and uses up a lots of your energy and has worse effects on memory loss then smoking the HErb, The first recorded written text was not for something deep, like art, poems or philosophy, it was for business ad!! And sleep is one of the most needed things we need as humans as its what helps break down and process the day to day with things we encounter. All in all, definitely think you should grab a copy.

Charles Bukowski - The pleasures of the damned

Someone people will see this a red flag and I say fuck you. I do not condone misogyny or some of his questionable life choices but i Admire this man’s work to no end. He was my first real intro into poems and for those who hated it in school this is a perfect book to re-kindle the love and art form that is poems. The reason why I enjoy this book so much is because of its easy reading and entry level. Unlike people like T.S Elliot, this book anyone can read and enjoy. Man made me cry over a car as if it was a human fr.

Rumi Selected poems

Another poem book but something of the Divine also one of the only poem books where at the back has a list of soup recipes so that’s kinda pog. But honestly I love rumi’s beautiful approach to words. Also I believe he’s secretley a gay icon, because of his undisclosed “friendship” with his mad shams, who happened to die after his wife and students got jealous of the amount of time they’d spend together. There’s lots of beauty to uncover in his peoms and a wonderful perspective to use when tackling the world.

The poetry of sex

Being the sex postive whore I am this is a great collection of poems adding more art to the nasty acts we humans love to get up to. Very good if ur still uptight and ashamed of ur perfectly normal needs and wants in sex. Enjoy x

Billie Holiday - lady sings the blues

Billie Holiday and Doctor Nina Simone are probably two of my biggest idols. Their story and life in a horrible racist and misogynistic world is so powerful and ever more important in their time.

Being a biological white boy I carry a lot of privileges and with that I want to help in any way I can. Taking a look at lady days story written by her is beautiful, painful and shocking but terribly important to know. It’s a wake up call for why we need more than ever to love each other and it’s a fierce and powerful tale of real life that shows us that despite what society and the world puts on you that you must fight till your last breath for what is right and stand up when you need to.

Honestly made me a cry getting to know more of her life and has made me ever more angry and mad that life was like that and still is all be it in a different context.

Jeff buckley - From hallelujah to last goodbye

just read it if you like jeff buckley fr.

For now this is all I have for you.

YOUTUBE CONTENT TO GROW YOUR MIND - say no to cheap dopamine

A bit of a fun one 4 me. Since I was a small human I always felt the world wasn’t what it seemed. Of course I know now it was a combination of bullying, toxic family structures and a lack of respect for a growing child with “learning difficulties” but that’s beside the point. I always would dream about there being something more than having to just survive.

Fun with food (when your broke & sad)

Coming from a working class background, money has always been tight. BUT when it comes to food it is extremely important to make sure your eating enough consistently. Picture your body as a car. If there is no fuel in that engine it wont work very well if not at all. It's the same for you. Don’t eat, don’t expect to get results similarly. If you put the wrong type of fuel into an engine it will damage or stop the car from working so having a varied diet is KEY.

With that said and with the stress of life and rising prices in the modern age here is a set of meals and foods that don't break the bank while being easy to get hold of to cook for even the most unorganized. I won’t be tackling things like being veggie or vegan as if your broke its quite hard to be vegan. If you don’t eat meat Just replace the meat sections with alternatives if you can.

Its all about being consistent to yourself which if not given at a young age you would not have learn. But fear not sweet thing you're in safe hands! Like anything in life, food and cooking is an art to does who see above all have fun.

HERBS, SPICES, SAUCE.

Try not to be white with your cooking, here is a basic set of herbs and spices and sauces that will help add to your cooking make things more enjoyable and tasty. Note: although all together it might be spenny these supplies will last a long while and for many meals to come.

  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Garlic granules
  • Salt and pepper
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Onion granules
  • Smoked paprika
  • Oregano
  • Ground Cumin
  • Sage
  • Chinse 5 spice
  • Sesame seeds
  • Mint
  • Ground Coriander
  • Ground ginger

In Sainsbury’s most of these are 95p some being £1.10 but overall for a set your looking at £14.25p which  for something you can continually use to add flavor to meals is a game changer. Id also recommend some stock cubes, veggie , chicken or beef and soy sauce to boost some meals . The point of spice is like colors to canvas, so experiment with levels when u cook to find the right amounts of what you like.

Tomato soup with cocktail sausages, herbs + seeded toast.

Pretty simple but a life saver for time, money and health. Sainsbury’s own brand “cream of tomato” comes in at 54p a can which serves one perfectly but can serve two. Cant go wrong with some thyme , sage , rosemary , garlic and onion granules to add more flavors a little or alot to your tastes.

Frozen cocktail sausages 56 for £2.90 from tesco or 2.50 for 32 with the option of 3 for £5 are great to add protein to the meal. Your gonna want to pan fry them then put them in the soup when there both cooked to the right time and temp.

Finally as a side get some seeded white or brown bread for about 94p in Aldi toast it and add some butter.  Salt and pepper the soup with a sage leaf for presentation and you're good to go.

Excluding herbs, butter, oil this meal will cost you around £4.90p serving around 3 people every 2 cans.

STIR FRIES BABy

My good friend Dylan clued me up on stir frys being a brilliant way of getting in a lot of protein, veggies and nutrients with almost zero effort and 100% reward in less then 20 mins. Stir fries don't need meat but they taste great with them replace with tofu or leave out and keep veggies.

You will need: Egg noodles (fresh) about this £2 and dried as low as 50p

Mixed veggies starting at. Protein of choices beef chunks or chicken around £2/3 and tofu from £2.

Start by frying ur protein of choice till nice and seared then place mix veggies and keep frying, while adding some garlic granules , sage , onion granules, soy sauce , thyme and rosemary. Once cooked through add some egg noodles and fry

together while adding more seasonings if need. Within about 20 mins you'll be the

STEWS <3 they are in my heart and tummy

Highly recommend u get a slow cooker from about £25 to £50, they're essential to cook stews with little time and stress.

My current Recipe consists of:

Bout 4 or 5 cut up and skinned carrots

3 or 4 cut up large skinned potatoes

1 or half a cut up Broccoli

1 red Orion diced fine

1 to 2 veggie cubes

1 chicken or beef stoke

Any cheap tough meat like beef chunks, chicken thighs, lamb.

Half a cup of gravy granules

4 or 5 cups of boiling water

Then herbs u can go crazy with, anything u like, but the basic core list I put above is a good start things like garlic , thyme (lots of it) , rosemary, cumin, coriander powder , smoked paprika, salt and pepper etc

Once you’ve prepared your veggies by peeling and meat by lightly cooking in a pan till nice and cooked through. Place all the contents into the slow cooker. Make sure to season gravy with ur herbs and spice u want the gravy to be on the watery side. Put a few stock cubes and close the lid with everything in leave in it and put on high heat. Leave for 5 or 6 hours, tasting as it goes if u wish and re seasoning for ur personal desired taste. Stews are great to combine lots of ur 5 a day with little effort and time.  Get some dumpling mix for about 75p and ur golden. Wonderful for.

FRUIT - good for routines

Having a bowl of  bananas , apples or clementines are great low cost snacks and alternatives from eating sweets each day. Common knowledge but imperative for putting the right fuel in your engine. Think smart.

ALSO BROWN RICE, WHOLEMEAL PASTA and OATS for OAT MEAL is so good for slow burning Energy throughtout the day while being inexpensive.
